What makes card identification tricky
The Pokémon TCG has printed tens of thousands of distinct cards across decades of expansions, and the same artwork often appears in multiple printings: regular, reverse holo, promo stamps, and reprints in later sets. Two visually near-identical cards can differ hugely in value, so "close enough" identification isn't good enough — you need the exact set and card number.
How image recognition identifies a card
